Find that hunger

I recently stumbled on a very interesting article on punditarena.com, by Daniel Hussey. In this article Kabib Nurmagomedov reportedly revealed that CR7 is worried his son won’t become the footballer he is.

Why?

Because, it is hard to find motivation, if you have everything you want from the age of 10. And CR7 believes people are ultimately driven by their hunger and desire to achieve things.

“When CR7 himself was his age, he could only dream about a pair of simple cleats (Boots)” Kabib was quoted in the article.

Ease is a greater threat to success than hardship. The one thing that pushes people more than anything to succeed, is the drive and hunger to achieve success.

Back in my day in Air Force Military School Jos, I noticed a simple trend. The junior Airmen who stood above par weren’t always the biggest, the fastest or the strongest. They weren’t even the most talented, for that matter.

They were the hungry ones. We called them patchers, those who had a point to prove. Those with the right weight on their shoulders, who went at their goals like their life depended on it.

I realize now that being hungry for success does 5 things for you

  1. It eliminates plan B.
  2. And with no plan B hunger drives improvements
  3. The better you get the more your hunger drives you towards solutions
  4. It keeps you grounded
  5. And above all, it opens your eyes to the possibility

Find that hunger.
