Italy Crowned Champions of Euros

Italy beat England 3-2 on penalties, in the Euro 2020 finals on Sunday. As a result, the trophy engraver added Italy to the Henri Delaunay cup. The fixture at Wembley stadium was a highly engaging one and ended 1-1 in full time.

During the shoot out, only one side had goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. And he proved himself the hero for the Azzurri side.

Luke Shaw, struck the fastest goal in an Euro final to put England ahead in the second minute. Harry Kane had sent the ball sailing from the right barely two minutes into the game. His glorious cross was drilled home on first contact with the ball by England’s left back.

Leonard Bonucci drew Italy level in the 67th minute.

England’s goalkeeper Jordan Pickford had turned Marco Verratti’s header against the post, and Bonucci slot in the loose ball in. It was a sad night for England. Substitutes Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka all failed to convert from the spot for the English side.

England still remains without a major trophy since 1966.
